SENIOR STRATEGIST

About the Role

BBMG seeks a Senior Strategist to join our team in DUMBO.

The Senior Strategist sits at the heart of our projects and drives them forwards in lockstep with Senior Designers and a supporting team of experts. They guide our leaders add the most value to client projects and inspire rising talent to stretch and grow. The Senior Strategist loves owning the details with precision and is equally happy stepping up to 50,000ft to explore the big picture.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Oversight

        • Manage relationships with client stakeholders and lead clear definition of the client challenge.
        • Lead branding, innovation, marketing and communications strategies based on insightful analysis and innovative ideas.
        • Embody and elevate BBMG process and protocols.
        • Oversee and assist in research steps as appropriate.
        • Create and pitch ideas for all levels of campaign development and implementation.
        • Provide strategic management and oversight to a dedicated interdisciplinary engagement team that will collaborate on all projects (designers and strategists).
        • Sell in a big idea, ensuring strategic alignment or coaching through change management.
        • Provide strategic direction to support creative concepting and design.
        • Generate written content for a variety of marketing formats (client memos, proposals, branding and strategy documents, collateral, talking points, etc.).
        • Manage, teach and mentor BBMG team members.
        • Bring innovation, creativity and inspiration into all engagements.

Relationship Management

        • Manage team and workflow to deliver work on time and within budget.
        • Identify key engagement touch points for principal and/or director involvement.
        • Confirm smart timelines and milestones across multiple projects; make recommendations for adjustments based on capacity, cost and client needs.
        • Oversee outside partners and vendors.

Business Development

        • Cultivate new business relationships and strategically grow existing accounts.
        • Support new business pitches and proposals.
        • Own strategic relationships with external partners supporting research and strategy development.

Qualifications

        • 6-8 years of direct brand strategy or strategic communications experience. For instance, the successful candidate may have experience as a:
        • Senior Strategist in a branding agency / consultancy;
        • Senior Consultant in an innovation agency / consultancy.
        • Experience working in a consultancy environment, delighting clients and managing significant integrated strategy and/or innovation engagements.
        • Experience in the application and expression of brand strategies (e.g., naming, corporate identity, packaging, retail, cause marketing, etc.).
        • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research design and execution.
        • The ability to distill client needs and research findings into actionable brand strategy.
        • Sharp attention to detail.
        • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.
        • Superior organizational, communication and analytical skills are a must.
        • Experience coaching and mentoring junior team members.

GRADUATE BRAND STRATEGY INTERN

BBMG seeks a Graduate Brand Strategy Intern to join our team in DUMBO for the summer.

Your curiosity drives you to ask why and dig deeper. You have a passion for doing the right thing and are ready to live your values every day at work. A left- and right-brain thinker, you are just as comfortable analyzing data to draw rational conclusions as you are dreaming up ideas that are so big, they might just work.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Walk in lockstep with strategy and design teammates in creating content for brand and innovation projects
  • Research and synthesize findings on new categories, brand landscapes and consumer reports
  • Help with client communication and coordination to enable seamless project processes
  • Design and build content for interactive workshops with clients that help them embrace opportunities and seize them
  • Support on project management to keep teams and workflows on time and on budget
  • Other tasks may include writing and assisting with ad hoc tasks and internal projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Clear professional experience in brand strategy, innovation or related field
  • Understanding of the importance of branding and marketing for organizations
  • Knowledge of trends in innovation and social impact spaces
  • Master’s degree in business, design, communications or a related field, or pursuing such degree
